Its Thursday again, you know what that means, another installment of Tunes Around Town! After the two previous weekends of insane amounts of music around Southern New England this weekend is fairly subdued as far as quantity of shows, but not quality!
Thursday October 1st
Providence
–Jerky’s is hosting a huge, shouldn’t miss, hip-hop show. Broken Ground (featured on Local Flavors), 90sevan, Big City Bumpus, HW, Shane Hall w /DJ Merf, Jotsone, DJ Emoh Bettah and Brzowski. 71 Richmond Street, 8pm! DAMN that’s A LOT of music for one night!
Friday October 2nd
Northampton
–Barefoot Truth and Spiritual Rez at the Pearl Street Ballroom, 7pm. A great double bill of roots and reggae.
Somerville
–Dopapod at Precinct in Union Sq, Somerville with Richard James and People with Instruments. Dopapod is the hottest new funk act on the scene, splitting home between Boston and Philly, they can usually be caught touring somewhere on the east coast.
New Market
–The Effective Dose at The Stone Church, New Market, NH, 8pm
Quincy
–Forgetful Jones at The Beachcomber, 797 Quincy Shore Drive, 8pm
Warren
–Nicky P will be performing his solo acoustic magic at Stella Blues Restaurant & Lounge, 50 Miller Street, 8pm
Saturday October 3rd
Providence
–The Chelsy Lau Band is playing Girlspot at Club Gallery, 150 Point Street, 9pm
Cambridge
–The Subjects one of New York City’s hottest harder indie rock acts are on tour and will be playing The Middle East Upstairs, 472 Mass Ave 8pm with The Soft Pack on Tour from San Diego. Should be a great show if you are in the Boston area, check it, dig it, and let me know what I missed.
