It was a fine Sunday evening when I ventured to Cranston to catch Haunt The House at a low key and fantastic house show hosted by Brett Davey. The day was quite warm and only got hotter as the night was filled with sweet folk sounds!

This was the first time I had a chance to venture to The Spot Underground in quite a while. Nate Cozzolino was hosting his weekly Madcap Monday open mic where he played a few songs, and had some friends join him afterward. Gabi Roque, Caleb Ezra Poirier, Nick LoPresto and Beth Killain all took to the stage while I was present, there were many more to follow but I called it an early night.

This fine Friday night in May I ventured over to the Fete Lounge for The Silks release of ‘Last American Band.’ It was a busy night throughout Providence with many shows happening but the bill at Fete was stacked with area bands representing both Boston and Providence. Torn Shorts started out the night right with a tight nine song set:

My best friend and I ventured not far from his home, this Saturday evening in May, to catch the first annual Round Square Festival at Theatre 82 in Character’s Cafe. The two night festival of singer songwriters was brought together and hosted by Steve Allain, who had performed himself, the previous night. Steve came to the stage to introduce the night, as well as the first performer Kayla Ringelheim:

Ton of great shows this fine fall weekend, get out and celebrate with live music!
The Spot Underground hosted a double header this fine Friday in August. The night started out with KnockDown Stand-up featuring four fantastic comics, Jay Mayo, Kelly Morse, John Porch, and Ahmed Bharoocha. After the laughs concluded the music began to flow with Daddie Long Legs and Orgone.

My brother and I found ourselves at a library, of all places, on this Friday in August. The Providence Public Library was having a reading of a few examples of H. P. Lovecraft‘s work, in between each of the readings they had short set from some of my favorite local singer songwriters, Will Houlihan of Haunt the House, Ian Fitzgerald, and Keith McCurdy of Vudu Sister. On the walk back from the library I stopped in at The Spot Underground to catch some of The Cosmic Factory and The Fritz.
