Dennis Emsley, US Sam and Torn Shorts at The Whiskey Republic 10.4.11

Here’s a bill of three acts I put together for a short lived series at The Whiskey Republic called Acoustic Tuesdays.  It was a series run by General Assembly’s Denny Rochefort, who has since begun booking at Fete.  Dennis Emsley started out the night in what was labeled “Hiding Behind Youth Lite,” with Adam Newell accompanying him, and later joined by Brendan Tompkins and Josh Grabert on a song.  US Sam filled out the middle slot, joined by his Lou Burbon Jr for most of the set on banjo.  Torn Shorts finished out the night with an acoustic set, marking the first time I’d had the chance to see the full, and expanded lineup.  Check out Dennis Emsley’s set below, and find US Sam’s and Torn Shorts’ sets after the jump!

US Sam at The Spot Underground 11.4.11

This Friday evening Nicole and I went down to The Spot Underground for an early start.  They were hosting a bone marrow donor drive for National Marrow Donor Program, and US Sam was in the house for his, long standing, “Fuck Work Friday” series.  We didn’t stay very long, just long enough to sign up to be a marrow donor and to catch 5 songs from everyone’s favorite City-Billy:

Michelle Lewis and Barefoot Truth at The Met 11.3.11

This particular Thursday night I had been anticipating for a while.  Its rare I miss a Barefoot Truth show within a 50 mile radius of Providence, and this time they were at The Met Cafe, right over the border in Pawtucket!  I believe it was only their second time playing the Providence area of the state, I would make the trek to The Wheelhouse to see them most frequently, until recently.  Michelle Lewis opened the show, a singer songwriter from the Boston area, which was a very pleasant surprise.  I enjoyed her set thoroughly.  Check out Michelle’s set playlist below:

Torn Shorts and The Stone Foxes at Fete 10.23.11

It was a Sunday night and I’d heard about this show last minute, after I finished editing the podcast together for early Monday release, made my way to Olneyville to check out Fete for the first time.  Torn Shorts was on fire, it was actually the first chance I saw the new, full electrified lineup (they made an appearance on at The Green Room the following week).  I had never heard of The Stone Foxes before, they were on tour from San Francisco, but they too tore it up.  I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for them to hit Lil Rhody again.
