Festie Feature: Jungle Jam

Festie season is long gone…or so I thought.  Normally festivals are reserved for the warmer summer months, even into autumn, but Jungle Jam forgoes the standard and created a destination location fest-cation (ok I was REALLY trying to go for end rhyme there, what? if rappers can take liberties with words, so can I!)    Started by local legends Max Creek, this annual festival takes place in Jaco Costa Rica at the Hotel Doce Lunas.  Smack dab in the middle of winter this festival was designed to escape the harsh, single digit New England winters and jam on in a tropical setting (average temp for Jaco in January is 81 degrees)!

Starting January 17th and running to January 21st Jungle Jam features some of the biggest named talent in the Jam Rock sector.  Bill Kreutzman’s BK3 is headlining, YES The Grateful Dead’s former drummer, that Bill Kreutzman.  The founders, Max Creek will be in attendance bringing the rock AND the throngs of fans.  Oteil Burbridge, of Allman Brothers and Tedechi Trucks fame will be on hand with his booming bass skills.  The one-man-band of smiles and hugs Zach Deputy is going to bringing his calypso reggae infused sound.  The Ryan Montbleau Band is bringing a bit of the singer-songwriter jams to the jungle.  Two of our local favorites at Sully’s Cafe have been added to the lineup, Viral Sound and Matt Carey.

Seriously folks, if you can take the time of of work and have room on a credit card this is the destination fest-cation of the YEAR!  If I had time off work, money and rid myself of my Aerophobia I would be there with my SPF 50 sunbock and a straw hat!

Thanks for the coverage! There are lots of great things to do in the area too – the famous Manuel Antonio National Park, Cara Park, 15 surf beaches, world class sport fishing, horseback riding, golf, flat water stand up paddleboarding, sea kayaking, snorkel, scuba and more. If you can’t make it this year, just save $10 a week and you will set for your plane ticket next year. Make that Jungle Jam envelope today!
