"Todavia" saved my car!
April 5th I had to head over to my great aunt’s house and meet my uncle and brother for some heavy lifting (My uncle blind sided me Friday night about 5pm with a “Hey what are your brother and yourself doing Sunday morning” in my naivety I thought he wanted to take us to brunch, then proceeded to explain that a stove had to be moved, and call at 9am on a Sunday asking why I wasn’t there yet. This was of course after explicitly stating to said uncle that my brother and I would be attending a “Rockhunt” Saturday night, drinking heavily and wouldn’t be home till 3 or 4 am), it being a relatively new house in a part if the state of which I’m not too familiar I was pretty lost and driving around frustrated with my uncle on the phone saying things like “I said it was about 6 miles down rt 114, did you take a left at The Immaculate Lady of Conception, its a white church” (rolling eyes and thinking, I don’t KNOW Uncle Donald I’ve passed 5 white churches, how many god damn CHURCHES are on this street!) So I light a cigarette and VIOLA there’s the church, there’s my left..I pull up. There’s my brother looking more hungover than I, quickly stubbing the butt, I rest it in the ashtray. After 30-40 minutes of lugging an ugly 1990s stove up 2 flights of stairs, and an even uglier 1980s stove back down, I figure the rest of that butt would be a nice reward. “That’s funny, my car seems smokey.” I get to my car and open the door and its really smokey, I’m thinking shit, I didn’t put that butt out all the way and it just burned to waste…..Alas it wasn’t in the ashtray, it had fallen out onto Todavia, one of my new CDs by Matt Jennings and burned through the case and cover art, JUST enough to burn through the CD and peter out. It couldn’t have landed on Two Become One’s case, that CD was in the player at the time. So at the cost of a great new CD my car was saved from burning up as I’m sure had the CD not been there, my rug and car would have surely caught fire. Anyone seen my car? The CDs are probably worth more……
