I’ve heard of three music related contests happening right now or starting soon! Two are female specific so ladies, wet your whistles!

First and foremost is the Black Rep‘s Providence Sound Session Search 2010. A year long battle of the bands held monthly and voted on by we, the fans, to determine performers for the week long summer music festival, Providence Sound Session. Details for entry will be released this Thursday, September 14th during The Search’s Kick Off Party, at The Xxodus Cafe, 276 Westminster Street Providence. Last year’s People’s Choice Award Winners Santa Mamba will be performing followed by DJ Finesse.
Second, Queen Latifah () is hosting the “Ignite Your Persona” contest from her website. Looking for female MCs, R&B Divas and Rappers for an opportunity to open for her upcoming tour in “your local city.” You can register on her site for more details.
You ask “Sully, I’m the female Hendrix. What about me?”
Lastly, Gibson is launching their search for the “SG Gal.” All you have to do is submit your original YouTube video to their page explaining why you “got the chops and the charm to represent one of the most iconic guitars in (their) lineup, the Gibson SG, and fill out this form. Winner will receive a Gibson SG Zoot Suit, and is determined by public voting. Deadline is November 13th 2009, so get those cameras rolling and amps turned up to “11!”
