Tunes Around Town – Trying to Play Catch-up
Posted by Sully in General, Tunes Around Town on July 13th, 2009
PHEW
Providence Sound Session was a BLAST and I saw a TON of acts all over Providence.
I’m still loading video clips form Lupo’s and WBRU’s block party Friday night.
And took almost 20 video clips from the Black Rep’s block party Saturday so keep your eyes peeled.
If you want a sneak peak at any of the videos before the full writeups are posted, you can always check them out on my videos channel on myspace
Serenity – a poem
I went to the beach first thing this morning and was inspired to write lackluster poetry.
YOUR Vote Needed!
Check out Zee Avi‘s debut album then vote for her at MTVU.com The Freshman. You are allowed to re-vote here, so keep spamming it all night tonight or all day long tomorrow!
Then once you’ve secured first place for Zee, take your time and peruse The Providence Phoenix’s Best Music Poll 2009. This vote is open longer, and I believe you can re-vote as well. I can’t go through all my picks here, but I’m sure some names will sound familier from previous “The Scene” posts.
As always, keep your eyes and ears peeled for all the great music going on around you.

“Life is What Happens to Your While You’re Busy Making Other Plans”
If you didn’t know, that’s a John Lennon quote from “Beautiful Boy” from the 1980 Double Fantasy album, check it out if you can.

Zig Zag and I on his back deck

Zig Zag, Bo with Winston, and Drea Jello anyone?
As with many weekend days my original plans for Sunday was to blog off my buns and catch up on some typing for all the fantastic shows I’ve seen of late, but alas life happened and my plans got majorly derailed yesterday. Dropping m’lady off shortly after awakening, I returned home to have an instant message from her, reminding my that my phone must still be off from the previous night. Turning on my phone it immediately started to go off like the Robot from Lost in Space. Nicole continued her messages to me as I checked my texts. Tim had neglected to tell me that he would be arriving back from Detroit today and needed a lift from the airport, meanwhile m’ldays cats had succumb to their primal instincts and slaughtered “a huge gross bug” between her living room and bedroom, much too disgusting for her to handle on her own. Surprise Tickets to Slightly Stoopid and The Roots
Posted by Sully in General, Tunes Around Town on April 27th, 2009
At about 1:30pm yesterday my buddy Ashley called saying she and some of my other friends had two extra tickets to Slightly Stoopid and The Roots at the URI Ryan Center that night. Never turning down a good show and just having just become enamored with The Roots from their work on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, I set out to attend my first hop-hop show (on purpose at least). Tim and I made the trek down to South County and hit up the Mews to meet the ladies and get on our sauce.
Yesterday was originally intended to catch up on my blogging, but I got sidetracked with another show, and a great one at that. Lame excuse I know, but with the Heroes season finale tonight, you will have to wait for further updates later in the week.
Ok, customer finally came back from placing me on hold.
Peace and Love

The Scene – Playing Catch-up
I’ve been busy getting Sully’s Cafe up and running, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been out on the town checking out The Scene for you!
In the past week I’ve seen sets from Daniel Chase, Jose Docen, Harpoon, and Innocent Uprising.
I’ve got plenty to type up when I have some free time. Like posts thus far, they will be backdated to reflect a post date closer to the actual viewing of the set.
Peace and Love
Sully
