Setting the Stage
Saturday July 18th I headed over to East Providence for the 2nd Annual Love Money Day, featuring Mike Baker, Mass Elite, J.T.O., J.U.D.A. Strain, hosted by Love Money on a beautiful summer afternoon. Held on a private homestead on Silver Spring Avenue, it was a quaint setting for a relaxed back yard BBQ and concert day. I arrived early with my own six pack and chocolate stocked cooler and hung out for a while, chewing the fat with some of the hosts and guests before the music started. Read the rest of this entry »

McFadden's Providence
Sunday July 5th was the start of Providence Sound Session, the annual week long music festival that transforms Providence into a Mecca for musicians from across the nation. Every music venue across the city and some beyond host a healthy variety of live shows, from every musical genre you could imagine. After receiving a reminder email from Love Money regarding the show, I reprised my role as the lone show goer and headed out the door. Read the rest of this entry »

Love Money at AS220
April 7th I headed out to Providence again, this time to AS220 on Empire street for the Love Money/Innocent Uprising show, and I’m certainly glad I dragged my ass out on a Tuesday night. While the room was sparsely populated with friends, relatives and girlfriends both bands made the best of the night playing their respective hearts out. I got there early enough to grab a burrito before the shows started and catch the extended sound check, longer than I’m used to at a smaller club but reaped the benefits as the mixing was perfect all night. Love Money laid out their classy blues jams with shout outs to the likes of Robert Johnson, changing pace a bit they played their instrumental reggae jam for some time before re-arranging some equipment and seating Lee on stage with an acoustic, they strummed out a great version of their Spanish flavored From Dusk Till Dawn.
